Unfortunately, it seems not all insiders are able to get this build. Users have been reporting error codes 0xca00a000 and 0x80242016 when trying to download and install 18875. Microsoft says this is due to an error wit cumulative update 18362.53 and only affects 19H1 to 20H1 updates. A fixed build should be out by the end of the week. “As we work on this new Cumulative Update, we have stopped offering Build 18875 to Insiders on Build 18362.53 and holding off flighting a new 20H1 build until we can deliver the fix to unblock Insiders,” explained Dona Sarkar and Brandon LeBlanc. “Our goal is for this to happen by the end of this week. We’ll share additional updates as available.”
Windows 10 20H1 Build18875 Changes
For those wondering, the feature addition is a new Japanese Input Method Editor. This was previously in builds, but Microsoft took it away while it made significant improvements. Among other things, it’s more stable and secure, with better compatibility with games. Further, improvements have been made to the simplified and traditional Chinese IMEs. They again add to security and stability, but also bring a cleaner interface to the candidate window and settings pages. However, users may be waiting more eagerly for some of the fixes it brings. These include a remedy for lock screen freezing when using the touch keyboard, settings crashes, Photos tile battery drain, and more. There are a number of issues those looking to upgrade from 19H1 when the build drops should be aware of. Realtek SD card readers aren’t working, and nor are Creative X-Fi sound cards.
