At the end of June, Microsoft will mark the end of its fiscal 2018. Ahead of the new corporate year, the company has announced more changes to its executive team. Now, its engineering divisions are being shuffled to put even more focus on intelligent cloud/intelligent edge. Among the changes saw Microsoft Corporate Vice President Kudo Tsunoda leaving his position. He was part of the Mixed Reality, Story Remix, and HoloLens departments. In March, Tsunoda was named chief of New Experiences and Technology (NeXT). However, today Microsoft said internally that he is now seeking a new role in the company. This is because the team has been disbanded, although Microsoft says Tsunoda remains with the company. No layoffs have been announced for this reorganization, so we guess his team will also be reallocated.
Growing Power of Experiences and Devices
Additionally, the Azure and Windows engineering division is moving under the wing of the Experiences and Devices business. Also, the Edge development team has also been moved back under this division. Rajesh Jha continues as the head of Experiences and Devices, a recently created division which seems to be all-encompassing. This was the business Belfiore fell under when he took control of OneNote and Microsoft Edge in March. Under his remit, Belfiore will head up Windows Shell, OneNote, Microsoft Edge, and other experiences. For example, he will also oversee continued development of Education, Microsoft To-Do, and more.
