“We see this experience as more than just bringing your phone into your PC but as a bridge between the two devices, so we are renaming the app to Phone Link.” On Android, the accompanying app will chance from “Your Phone Companion” to “Link to Windows.” Alongside the rebranding, Microsoft is also rolling out a new user experience for the service. Phone Link on Windows 11 and Windows 10 will have a design that more closely mirrors Windows 11’s Flow UI and general aesthetic (think rounded corners, transparent components, etc.) Further, Microsoft is promising more features for the app but does not specify what they are. Your Phone arrived three years ago as a bridging application that lets users view and use their smartphone on their Windows desktop. Over the years, the app has received increasing functionality and these days most things you can do on your smartphone you can mirror on PC.
New Brand
Among the features backed into the service are the ability to access your smartphone’s texts, photos, contacts, apps, and other items. While it is available for all Android devices, Your Phone has its full features on Microsoft’s Surface Duo and Samsung devices. The latter support comes from a partnership between Samsung and Microsoft. Microsoft says Phone Link is making it debut in China thanks to a partnership with HONOR, appearing on the company’s smartphones.
