A release in this time period was previously rumored, but it was unclear how much the global pandemic would affect those plans. According to ZDNet’s sources, we may see the Surface Go 2 as early as next month, while the Book 3 isn’t expected until June. As is often the case, though, it may be a few weeks between the official launch and shipping availability for the general consumer. Either way, both devices are fairly highly anticipated. The Surface Book 2 was released back in 2017, while the 2018 launch of the affordable Surface Go was met with much praise. Both of the devices have been subject to various leaks and rumors, but Microsoft is yet to officially confirm their existence. According to Windows Central, the Surface Go 2 will address one of the main criticisms of its predecessor: bezels. The screen will reportedly be 10.5″ rather than 10, but in the same size chassis. The extra screen space will no doubt be appreciated by those who struggle with small text, and should also look sleeker. The publication suggests that the bezel size still isn’t on Surface Pro X levels, but they should match those on the Surface Laptop 3. The Surface Go 2 is also rumored to have a slight resolution increase, up to 1920×1080, while its internals range from an Intel Pentium Gold 4425Y with 4 GB RAM to a Core m3-8100Y with 8 GB. On the Surface Book side of things, there have been several purported benchmarks and supposed slip-ups from retails. Last week, European retail sites posted several SKUs before promptly removing them. It appears there were be 13 and 15-inch models, with the choice of Core i5-10210U or i7-10510U processors. It may also come with Nvidia Quadro GPUs, rather than GeForce ones, targetting them firmly at productivity. Meanwhile, there are hints of a new Surface Dock launching alongside these devices. Considering the last one launched in 2015, it would make a lot of sense.
