The update in question has been rolled out to fix a battery problem. Additionally, it will provide unnamed changes to make the system more stable. As usual, Microsoft has made the firmware available through Windows Update, but you can also grab is manually right here from the Microsoft Download Center. In the release notes, the company says the Surface Laptop System Aggregator has been bumped to version 135.211.3.0. Unfortunately, no specific details on what battery improvements were made had been released by Microsoft. This firmware comes after a near two-month gap between patches. That last Surface Laptop update came back in January when Microsoft issued an emergency patch to cover the Meltdown and Spectre Intel CPU flaw. Back in January, Microsoft started selling a business-oriented version of the Surface Laptop, which ships with Windows 10 Pro. The special version of the Commercial Surface Laptop can be bought by any customer. However, it is meant to be for organizations buying more than one unit. They can now buy the device with Windows 10 Pro already installed. Of course, this saves having to upgrade multiple machines, even if the upgrade is free.
Surface Pride
Last month, Microsoft drew attention to a report that showed professionals value their Surface device more than Apple products. Creative Strategies asked 1,300 consumers in the United States to form the report. The results show Surface is favored amongst early tech adopters. Additionally, Surface “continues to challenge” Apple in other areas.
