Included in Windows 10 build 18917, there is a new “Manage notifications” section within the Action Center. You may remember build 18917 is a Windows 20H1 preview that we discussed last week. Microsoft did not officially list the notification changes, but they were spotted by a redditor. Users can find the Manage notifications button in the top right corner of the Action Center. This is a simple enough addition that allows users to access settings for notifications and actions more easily. Previously, getting to those settings required following this path: Settings > System > Notifications & actions It is worth noting the button is limited to select Windows 10 20H1 users on the Fast Ring of the Insider Program. Microsoft is likely experimenting with the tool before making it available as a wider preview. This also explains why the company has kept the feature quiet. The second new notification improvement available in the latest Windows 10 20H1 release is a tool to turn off notifications and access notification settings for individual applications from within the Action Center.
More notification refinements
A second improvement for notifications makes it possible to turn off notifications and access notification settings for a selected app right from the Action Center. Reports suggest this feature arrived with build 18917, but some users say they had it included in 18912. Again, that suggests Microsoft is introducing this ability in phases and experimenting with it. In the Action Center, right clicking on notifications now bring up more options. One of the new options is “Turn off notifications for [app name]” Furthermore, the settings icon next to a notification now allows users to access the Settings app and manage options for each application.
